Our commitment

Community engagement

At Caxton Group, community engagement isn’t just a practice, it’s part of our company culture. We collaborate with clients, project teams, supply chains, and wider community groups to create a positive impact on the people around us. Our commitment to serving our community drives our strategy, ensuring our joint activities have a robust impact through the power of partnerships.

considrate constructors

We adhere to the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS), ensuring our projects align to the Code of Considerate Practice. This in turn extends our commitment to the well-being of our local communities, the environment, and – most importantly – our valued workforce.

In our 2023 Considerate Constructors Scheme Monitors Report, we received ‘excellent’ for ‘respect for the community’ and ‘very good’ for ‘value of workforce’. CCS commented, “Caxton Group continues to operate excellent procedures to identify skill/competence and rights to work for the whole workforce. Training and development for staff and workforce is also excellent, recognising individual achievements”.

Employment, training and development

Inspiring tomorrow’s leaders – Caxton Academy

In partnership with leading training provider Salutem, we are committed to providing hands-on training and education that will set the foundations for your career. Our Level 2 courses go above and beyond the required Government industry standard, an element that sets us apart and puts our apprentices at an advantage. By investing in apprenticeships, we not only contribute to the personal and professional development of individuals but also ensure a continuous influx of skilled and dedicated people essential for the long-term success and sustainability of the construction industry. Training and development

Our workforce is our biggest asset – and to ensure they remain at the forefront of industry advancements we prioritise continuous training and development of our staff. Through investment in learning opportunities, we aim to collectively build skill sets to meet the evolving nature of the construction industry.

We encourage our people to continually learn, helping them to succeed in their current roles and progress to supervisor and management positions. We support a number of employees to gain relevant NVQs such as Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme and Site Management Training Scheme. We also support our health and safety department with NEBOSH Diploma,  and accounts team with AAT qualifications. We have provided Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training across the Group.

Economy and local spend

We always invest in local suppliers and subcontractors where possible, boosting our local economy. Currently we employ over 50 people on local projects, which reinforces our commitment to sustainable growth and community prosperity.

Contributing to our community

Our team is enthusiastic about giving back to our communities. Every year our team raises money for several charities including Make a Wish and Curzon CofE Junior School. We regularly raise money for our local schools and collect food and toys for our local food banks. Fundraising activities include;

  • Donation to The Trussell Trust providing food bank supplies
  • Carbon Capture Tree Planting in Derbyshire
  • Annual Caxton Group charity golf day
  • Three Peaks Challenge
  • The Trailwalker Challenge (walking 100K in 30 hours)
  • The Ivanhoe Way Challenge

Backing the Lighthouse Charity

At Caxton Group, we care about the people behind the projects. That’s why we’re proud to support the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, which provides critical emotional and financial help to construction workers and their families. It’s another way we’re looking out for our industry, making sure that those who build our communities are supported when they need it most.
