Environmental commitment
Reducing our carbon footprint
Our industry has an essential role to play in reducing the carbon in its operations. We use the very latest building techniques to ensure that our projects minimise waste and water use and are environmentally sound. Where possible, we source local materials and use local teams to reduce fuel usage.
Our aim is to become carbon neutral and to reduce our impact on the environment. We use carbon offsetting to compensate for our emissions by funding an equivalent carbon dioxide saving elsewhere.
We support local community projects such as Carbon Capture in association with the Woodland Trust.
Sustainability Policy
Through our environmental policy we consider the environmental implications of our activities and actively seek the cooperation of clients, subcontractors, suppliers and our employees in minimising the effects of our operations.
To achieve these objectives we will:
- Comply with all relevant environmental legislation, and in the absence of legislation, adopt sound environmental practices.
- In liaison with neighbours, take all reasonable steps to minimise nuisances such as parking, noise, light and other forms of pollution.
- Take all reasonable steps to enhance the local environment, protecting wildlife and plant life during the construction process.
- Ensure the efficient use of resources and the effective control of waste.
- Take all reasonable steps to conserve the use of energy and water.
- Minimise our vehicle movements and encourage the use of environmentally friendly forms of transportation.
- Develop environmental awareness and promote cooperation amongst our employees.
- Advise our clients and their advisers of sustainable construction alternatives where appropriate.
- Encourage our subcontractors and suppliers to adopt sound environmental practices.
- Be actively introducing electric vehicles to our fleet.
- Review our policy annually and continually seek to improve performance by regular monitoring.
Community Engagment
Our team is enthusiastic about contributing to our communities. At Caxton Group, community engagement isn’t just a practice, it’s part of our company culture. We collaborate with clients, project teams, supply chains, and wider community groups to create a positive impact on the people around us. Our commitment to serving our community drives our strategy, ensuring our joint activities have a robust impact through the power of partnerships.
We adhere to the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS), ensuring our projects align to the Code of Considerate Practice. This in turn extends our commitment to the well-being of our local communities, the environment, and – most importantly – our valued workforce.
