STOFIX Brick Slip Cladding Contractors UK

A high-performance brick slip façade system installed by Caxton Façades

At Caxton Façades, we specialise in the installation of STOFIX brick slip cladding systems for residential, commercial and education projects across the UK. STOFIX combines the appearance of genuine brickwork with the performance benefits of a modern rear-ventilated façade, making it a strong solution for projects that require speed, consistency, durability and long-term compliance.

As a specialist façade contractor, we install STOFIX as part of complete façade packages, helping clients achieve an authentic brick finish with the advantages of prefabrication, reduced structural load and efficient on-site delivery.

What is STOFIX brick slip cladding?

STOFIX is a prefabricated, mechanically fixed brick slip façade system that uses genuine brick slips fixed to factory-produced panels under carefully controlled conditions. These panels are then installed onto a substructure to create a rear-ventilated façade.

This approach gives the building the look of traditional masonry while improving programme certainty, reducing on-site labour and supporting modern performance requirements. It is particularly well suited to projects where build speed, structural efficiency and façade quality are key priorities.

Why choose brick slip cladding?

One of the biggest advantages of STOFIX is its high level of prefabrication. Unlike traditional brickwork, which depends heavily on site conditions and manual pointing, STOFIX panels are manufactured in a temperature-controlled factory with around 95 percent of pointing completed before they reach site. This reduces the risk of weather-related delays, shortens programme time and helps deliver a more consistent finish across the façade.

STOFIX also offers significant weight savings. Panel weights can start from approximately 43 kg per square metre, depending on brick specification, which is considerably lighter than traditional masonry. This lower weight can help reduce structural load, lower foundation demand and support more efficient use of materials across the wider building design. In some cases, it can also contribute to lower groundworks costs and reduced embodied carbon.

Because the system is prefabricated and installation-ready, it supports faster and more efficient installation. Panels are manufactured to project-specific layouts and clearly referenced for installation, helping site teams work accurately and reducing the risk of delays or rework. This can be especially valuable on larger or more complex developments.

Consistent quality from factory to façade

STOFIX panels are produced on an automated production line under controlled conditions, with quality checks carried out throughout the manufacturing process. Brick slips are sourced from carefully selected manufacturers to ensure compatibility, durability and visual consistency.

This controlled production process helps achieve clean, even joints and a more uniform finish across the building. Factory-applied mortar and colour-matched sand also support a consistent appearance, while reducing the amount of site jointing required. Where site finishing is needed, the system is designed to maintain a clean and even result.

For clients, architects and contractors, this means greater confidence that the finished façade will reflect the original design intent while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.

A real brick finish with greater design flexibility

STOFIX gives architects and specifiers the look and feel of real brick without the weight and programme challenges of traditional masonry. Brick slips are available in a wide range of colours, textures and formats, allowing the façade to align with planning requirements, complement surrounding buildings or create a more contemporary architectural expression.

The system also supports a broad choice of bond patterns, including stretcher, English, Flemish, stack and soldier courses, with bespoke options available where the design requires something more specific. Special shapes and custom solutions can also be incorporated to suit more complex details such as columns, stepped surfaces and decorative features.

This flexibility makes STOFIX suitable for both new build and refurbishment projects, and allows designers to balance appearance, performance and buildability without compromise.

Performance built into the system

STOFIX is a rear-ventilated façade system, mounted on rails to create a cavity behind the cladding. This ventilated cavity helps moisture escape, supports air circulation and keeps the system drier over time. By helping to manage moisture effectively, the system can reduce long-term stress on the façade and support a longer service life.

The system is also designed to accommodate movement caused by temperature change, helping maintain long-term stability without compromising façade performance. Combined with a durable substructure and frost-resistant brick slips, this makes STOFIX a robust and reliable façade solution for demanding building environments.

STOFIX can also accommodate substantial insulation thicknesses, helping projects meet current and future thermal performance requirements. It can be installed on both insulated and non-insulated constructions, and is suitable for a wide range of load-bearing structures in both new build and refurbishment settings.

Durability, fire performance and compliance

Long-term performance is essential in façade construction, and STOFIX is designed with durability in mind. The system has a calculated service life of 60 years, supporting whole-life value and long-term asset protection.

Brick slips within the system are kiln-fired and designed to meet recognised European standards, including frost resistance classifications for long-term external use. The substructure includes high-quality rails and brackets manufactured from ZM430 Magnelis steel to provide excellent corrosion resistance and long-term stability. Stainless steel options are also available where required.

In fire performance terms, the STOFIX façade system is classified Euroclass A2-s1,d0, making it a strong option for projects where fire-resistant performance and regulatory compliance are critical. This is particularly important for taller buildings and developments where designers, contractors and clients need confidence in the façade build-up.

Programme certainty and construction efficiency

For many projects, the benefit of STOFIX lies not just in the finished appearance, but in the way it supports the construction process. High levels of factory prefabrication reduce on-site dependency, improve sequencing and help teams keep programmes on track.

Because the façade panels and substructure are designed as a coordinated system, installation is simpler and more accurate. Project-specific layouts, precision manufacturing and reduced site pointing all contribute to a smoother handover from design to installation. This can help reduce waste, lower labour demand and improve cost efficiency, particularly on larger or more time-sensitive projects.

Applications for STOFIX brick slip cladding

STOFIX is well suited to a wide range of sectors and building types. It is installed across residential developments, including high-rise apartment schemes, build-to-rent projects and student accommodation. It is also a strong solution for education buildings (utilised across the DfE ten year re-build programme), commercial developments and mixed-use schemes where a brick aesthetic is required alongside modern façade performance.
