Caxton Builders is working alongside main contractor, Winvic Constuction on a new residential development in Sheffield City Centre.  335 apartments spread over five, six, 12 and 14 storey buildings. The scheme will comprise a mixture of one, two and three bedroom apartments and one bedroom studios.

The project includes substructure, superstructure, internal finishes, fixed fittings, building services, utility services and associated external works including S278 highway works, including purification of all necessary planning consents, building warranties and statutory approvals.

The £3.7m, 46-week project for Caxton Builders included three buildings, blocks A, B and C –  a mixture of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments and studios with commercial space on the ground floor. Caxton Builders used three different types of bricks, with recess panels and stacked soldier bonds. Caxton overcame the challenges of an inner-city build, including the existing residential area and the River Sheaf.

The ground floor will have a commercial space with the facility to provide green public spaces. Externally, using materials recovered from site remediation; the council and local artist will incorporate street furniture and artwork in and around the new formed cycle / footpath. Ground floor area is split with residents’ social space, plant and comms rooms, bin stores, reception areas and retail area.
