Apprentice Experiences

Lizzie tells us how everyday brings something new.

“I’ve learned so much from the experienced bricklayers on-site and have worked on some amazing projects like Glasswater Locks and Phoenix Arts Centre. Every day brings something new, which keeps things interesting. The team at Caxton has been really supportive, always happy to share their knowledge and help me improve my skills”.

Kian tells us why he chose a bricklayer apprenticeship and what he enjoys most about Caxton Academy.

“We are all treated the same, we get the best teaching from Ivan, and 1-2-1 support with small class sizes of six. It’s a great environment to learn in”.

Harry tells us how the six-week block learning has given him the confidence he needs to go on site.

“Coming here for six weeks blocks is the best thing about the Academy, I am learning every day and it helps build confidence before going on to site”.

“We have a block release system where we do six weeks of training at the Academy. We learn the basics of laying bricks which gives us the confidence we need to go on-site. College is a friendly work environment, and I don’t feel like I’ve been thrown in at the deep end when I go on site”.

Kitchener tells us how tutor Ivan’s teaching methods help them to learn quickly, giving the apprentices the confidence they need before they go on site.
