Caxton Builders Achieves FIRAS Accreditation for Linear Gap Seal Installation

We’re proud to share that Caxton Builders is now officially FIRAS accredited for the installation of linear gap seals – a critical component in fire protection. This new accreditation builds on our existing FIRAS certification for cavity barriers, reflecting our growing expertise in fire-stopping and commitment to safety.

Chloe Yafai, Quality Manager at Caxton Builders, explains: “This accreditation assures our clients that we uphold the highest safety and quality standards. Achieving FIRAS certification demonstrates our technical capability and ongoing commitment to fire safety in the built environment.”

Linear gap seal installation

The linear gap seal is a key fire-stopping detail used where internal blockwork walls meet the underside of concrete slabs. This seal closes the deflection gap, preventing fire and smoke from spreading between floors. Proper installation of this component is essential in meeting fire compartmentation requirements.

Through our FIRAS accreditation, we are also approved to complete penetration sealing around service openings and builders’ work holes enhancing our overall capability across a wider range of fire-stopping applications.

FIRAS Accreditation Benefits

The Fire Industry Registration Scheme (FIRAS) is a respected, third-party certification that ensures contractors install fire protection systems in accordance with the highest industry standards. FIRAS installers are assessed regularly for competence, quality control, and compliance with current legislation.
