Caxton Group support local food bank this Christmas
Caxton Group delivered £1800 worth of food parcels to Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank this week. The donation, made possible by the generosity of Caxton staff and suppliers will help up to 70 families this Christmas.
Ian Black, Caxton Builders Buyer who leads the initiative with his family said, “We would like to give a massive thank you to everyone involved, from our generous suppliers, amazing staff and senior management team, as without their help and support this would not have been possible”.
Growing demand for help
20,000 food parcels were supplied by Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank in the last year. They work on referrals from frontline professionals but also support 36 registered charities and many public sector services. Unfortunately the demand for food banks grows year on year as the choice of ‘Heat or Eat’ hits more families, with the biggest growth being working families.
Ian continued, “Everyone who donated should feel very proud. Working on the Trussell average food parcel value given to families, we have helped 70 families this year. Thank you again to everyone for your kindness and generosity”.
Growing need for support
Caroline Wolfe, Business & Community Development Co-ordinator at Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank added; “We rely on donations of food for the majority of our emergency food parcels, so we were delighted to receive this recent visit from Ian and family, delivering this year’s donation generously given by the Caxton Group, and their extended community. The variety of items, thoughtfully chosen and the increase in amount each year has been heartwarming for us, as we face continuously a growing number of people needing to access our support. We cannot say a big enough thank you for helping us to continue in our work; on behalf of the trustees, staff, volunteers and guests at Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank.”
