Celebrating International Women’s Day at Caxton Group

To mark International Women’s Day, we’re shining a light on remarkable women who play pivotal roles in the success of Caxton Group. Today, we hear from our Finance Manager, Fiona Hodgkinson, who reflects on her career journey so far. Fiona also shares her views on what inspires inclusively, the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day means to her.

Diverse experiences – from chemicals to construction

I am the Finance Manager for all the companies within the Caxton Group. I’ve been with Caxton Group and in the construction industry for five and a half years. Finance is a versatile discipline, as my career path demonstrates – working across the chemical sector, advertising, and office products.

A female majority 

At Caxton Group, our accounts team is made up of five strong women, working in a predominantly female environment at our Stoke office. As a woman in a leadership role, I have not faced challenges based on my gender. I feel accepted within the senior management team, where my views and contributions are respected.

Balancing work and home responsibilities 

All women should be admired, not just for holding positions of authority, but for demonstrating strength in their daily lives. Many women, both at home and at work, juggle multiple roles, and it’s these individuals who I find truly inspiring.

Diverse contributions in construction

Women in construction bring much-needed diversity to the sector. Their nurturing nature complements their male counterparts, offering a unique perspective in the decision-making process.

It’s heartening to witness the increasing number of female staff across all departments within Caxton Group over the past five years. The female to male staff ratio has noticeably risen. In the accounts department, we proudly embody ‘girl power,’ actively encouraging our team to engage in further education to progress their careers.
