Keystone School
Delivering innovation in education construction: Keystone School
At Caxton Façades, we worked closely with the main contractor, Bowmer + Kirkland to achieve a successful opening to Keystone school in September this year. We contributed to the Department for Education’s ten-year school rebuild programme, which aims to improve schools and sixth-form colleges across England.
Keystone School: A model of modern construction techniques
The goal for Keystone School was clear: to use modern construction methods and off-site building techniques for improved efficiency and quality. At Caxton Façades, we installed 420 sqm Stofix brick slip cladding on the ground floor, which boosted the building’s durability and aesthetic appeal.
The Stofix cladding system is made for prefabrication, which means large panels were made in the Stofix factory before delivery to site. Each panel is made with pre-pointed joints, helping to create a smooth, high quality finish.
For this project, Feldhaus R286 bricks were selected. The bricks were laid out in a stretcher bond pattern, with recessed joints that not only looked aesthetically appealing but also added strength to the walls. This combination of quality materials and modern construction methods shows how innovation can create better educational spaces, providing a solid learning environment for students and staff.
The upper levels of the school were made up of an RCM cladding system in different styles to give an overall aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Driving cost and time efficiency
As partners and specialist installers of Stofix brick slip cladding, the project achieved significant cost savings and improved efficiency. Brick slip panels reduce construction time on site and minimise the number of deliveries, offering clear advantages over traditional brickwork methods.

Sustainable and collaborative construction
The Keystone School project shows how teamwork and innovation can create inspiring educational spaces. Alongside Bowmer + Kirkland, architects Stride Treglown, product manufacturer, Stofix, and our skilled installation team here at Caxton Façades, we all played a key role in shaping this state-of-the-art school.
As we celebrate the completion of this project, we look forward to more opportunities to install Stofix brick slip cladding to enhance multiple educational environments.
