New Contract Award – Caxton Builders joins HG Construction on student accommodation scheme

Caxton Builders has been appointed by main contractor, HG Construction, to work on Birmingham’s latest student accommodation scheme, Bristol Road. This project, with a value of £2.4 million, marks our first project with HG Construction.

Caxton Builders will provide labour, mortar and ancillaries for the high-rise Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), which will deliver 620 student bedrooms across four linked buildings ranging from eight to 17 storeys. The accommodation is designed by architectural firm Corstorphine & Wright.

Facilities will include a gym, basketball court, study zones, karaoke and games rooms, with a landscaped courtyard to support student wellbeing. This scheme is transforming a brownfield site into a vibrant new living space for students in the city.

Ian Knight, Caxton Builders Managing Director, said, “We’re thrilled to be working with HG Construction for the first time on such a large-scale, future-focused project. It’s a brilliant opportunity to showcase our delivery and quality at scale. Caxton will start on site in July 2025 with sub-structure works”.
