Caxton Builders commences project for IHP – Vinci/Sir Robert McAlpine at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital

Caxton Builders is proud to be awarded a new supply and fix contract by Integrated Health Projects (IHP) via main contractor Vinci/Sir Robert McAlpine at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

This major hospital project, now known as the ‘Hospitals Transformation Programme’ (HTP) will improve care for local people. The project involves refurbishing, remodelling and extending the existing Emergency Department, along with constructing a new hospital design.

Providing Better Care

The goal is to optimise healthcare across two sites, Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford and Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) in Shrewsbury. It will see RSH becoming the centre for critical care, housing the Emergency Department, Critical Care Unit and Women & Children’s services, while PRH will become the Planned Care site, accommodating the Urgent Treatment Centre and Surgical Centre. Plans will support the HTP’s vision to deliver two thriving hospitals and better care for everyone.

Caxton Builders work forms part of a wider NHS transformation to improve care for communities across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, and Mid Wales.

Supporting communities

“This contract award reflects work we’re passionate about – delivering the highest quality brickwork across projects that are essential to communities. We’re proud to be playing a part in such an important development for the region.” said Ian Knight, Caxton Builders Managing Director.

Value is approx. £800K and the project commences w/c 1st July 2025, with a duration of 20 weeks. We look forward to supporting IHP on site and contributing to a scheme that will make a real difference to both patients and NHS staff.
