New Contract Award: Wixams Academy, Bedford

Caxton Builders is pleased to be working with highly valued repeat client Willmott Dixon on a project at Wixams Academy,  a project set to create 1,200 new school places. The Academy is the centrepiece for the huge new Wixams community being created three miles south of Bedford that covers approximately 384 hectares. This location will eventually attract a community of around 10,000 people and is the single largest development in the county.

Caxton Builders has been awarded the supply and fix masonry subcontract package consisting of external façade Forticrete architectural blockwork and internal blockwork partitions to a teaching superblock extension to the existing school and new build standalone sports block.

The new construction will add a 35-classroom teaching block, a new sports hall, enlarged canteen facilities, covered outdoor eating space, a new multi-use games area (MUGA), and a full-size all-weather sports pitch.

This £430K project commences in October 2023 with a 15-week duration.
