Perry Barr Residential
Plot seven is just one of 11 plots making up the Perry Barr Residential Scheme Phase 1. Working with main contractors Vinci Construction, Caxton Builders worked on the brand-new residential scheme based in Perry Barr, Birmingham. The six-storey buildings include a combination of apartments and retail units. The mixed-use redevelopment for Birmingham City Council, which is being managed by Lendlease Construction, began in early 2019.
The Perry Barr Residential Scheme will provide 1,400 much-needed new homes for Birmingham. The scheme will act as a catalyst for circa. 5,000 new homes and wider regeneration of the city – including improved leisure and community facilities along with upgraded transport infrastructure for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. The 42-week program was built in 2021/22 utilising 550000 bricks.
Councillor Ian Ward, Leader of Birmingham City Council, said: “There is an urgent need for high-quality new homes in this city. On behalf of the city council, I would like to thank everyone involved for their contribution to the creation of a vibrant new neighbourhood in this part of Birmingham.”
There are a number of other schemes being undertaken in the area which will contribute to achieving the vision: 1. The Alexander Stadium is being redeveloped to provide the primary venue for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games; 2. The A34 Highway, along the Aldridge Road, is being reconfigured to improve connectivity in the area; 3. The Perry Barr Rail Station is being redeveloped to provide an inviting gateway to the area.
