Congratulations Jack Stride, Caxton Builders Spring Apprentice

We are delighted to announce Jack Stride as our Spring Apprentice of the Year. Jack has achieved this award due to his excellent report from Burton & South Derbyshire College, and his continually improving site work.

Currently working at Branston Locks Primary School, Jack has been given the chance to demonstrate his skills by working independently to build a lift shaft. This opportunity will give him the chance to put his theoretical learning into practice, working on his own initiative as well further developing his practical skills. Todd Wilkinson, site manager said “Jack is very keen to learn, he is hardworking and he takes a huge amount of pride in his work. Well done Jack!”

Ivan Sharpe, Construction Manager and Apprenticeship Programme Lead added, “Jack is a second year apprentice and shows real potential, not only on site but also when in class. Jack carries out additional theory training and has gained an in-depth understanding of the principles of bricklaying.”

Bricklaying Awards

Jack’s tutor at Burton & South Derbyshire College, Ricky Wright, has asked our permission to put Jack forwards for a forthcoming bricklaying competition held in May. Jack will represent the Midlands and if successful, go on to the National competition. Jack has demonstrated excellent commitment to this opportunity, committing an extra day a week in college to practise for the competition. Good luck Jack!
