Project Details

Project name:
Thames Park School
Main Contractor:
Bowmer+Kirkland
Product:
Stofix pre-pointed brick slip cladding system
Sector
Education

Caxton Façades is proud to have contributed to the Thames Park School project, one of the UK’s first schools built using the Department for Education’s rebuild programme utilising Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). This forward-thinking approach ensures environmental impact is reduced.

Working with main contractor Bowmer + Kirkland and Stofix UK, our role involved installing over 700 square metres of Stofix brick slip cladding across the ground floor.

Efficient installation with pre-pointed panels

As partners of Stofix and their specialist installer, we were responsible for ensuring the successful application of Stofix’s brick slip cladding panels and RCM cladding panels.

Stofix brick slip cladding was the clear choice for this project due to its combination of quality, flexibility, and efficiency. The panels are prefabricated and pre-mortared in a factory, ensuring a consistent, high quality finish. Combining efficient installation with minimal on-site pointing, the installation was completed on time and within budget.

Stofix offers a wide selection of genuine bricks, allowing complete flexibility in choosing the size, colour, and bond to create any design. Its ventilated structure enhances insulation while providing weatherproof durability, and the system meets the highest fire safety standards, ensuring both safety and performance. Bowmer + Kirkland, a long-term contractor for the Department for Education schools rebuild programme commented, The off-site method of construction reduces time spent on site, is better for the environment and further improves health and safety.”

Modern facilities for future learners

Thames Park School, now managed by the Osborne Co-operative Academy Trust, features a three-storey teaching block, a separate sports facility, and various outdoor amenities. The site includes all-weather pitches, multi-use games areas, and sports fields, providing students with a modern space for both education and recreation.

We’re delighted to have played a part in delivering this cutting-edge school, creating a positive learning environment that will benefit students for years to come.

Awards and recognition

The project has earned recognition, having been shortlisted for the 2023 Façade Awards UK in the ‘best use of a brick slip cladding system’ category and won Best Use of Hybrid Technology in the Offsite Awards
