We are delighted to be working with VJ Technology, a key sponsor of Caxton Academy. VJ Technology visited our Academy to conduct an informative training session for our apprentices.

VJ Technology are a leading company in manufacturing, distributing and testing fixings, fasteners and building consumables for the construction and infrastructure sector.

Critical Learning

The session covered essential topics, including the various types of fixings that bricklayers and fixers use to secure ties in masonry structures. Apprentices learned to identify different types of fixings, understand their specific purposes, and recognise how they perform and are tested. Most importantly, they discussed the critical reasons for correct installation and the potential consequences of using incorrect products or improper installation techniques.

Modern Building Techniques

Ivan Sharpe explained, “Bricklaying has evolved tremendously over the past 30 years. In today’s industrial and commercial sectors, masonry has adapted to modern building techniques, and bricklayers have advanced with it. There is much more science and theory behind design and the choice of materials and installation methods”.
