Meet Kea Simmons – Trainee Quantity Surveyor at Caxton Builders

We would like to welcome Kea Simmons to the Caxton team. Kea joined Caxton Builders in July 2024 as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor. Pictured here, Kea is working on the Glasswater Locks project in Birmingham. 

While new to the construction sector, Kea brings valuable experience from previous roles that required relationship building and client management – key skills that she’s now applying to her work in quantity surveying. We spoke with Kea to learn more about her journey and first impressions of life at Caxton Builders.

When did you join Caxton Builders?
I joined Caxton Builders in July 2024.

What is your current role?
I am a Trainee Quantity Surveyor.

How long have you worked in the construction industry?
Before joining Caxton Builders, I hadn’t worked in the construction industry. It’s something I’ve always been interested in but hadn’t yet had the opportunity to pursue.

Can you tell us a bit about your past experience?
Although I have not got any previous construction experience, since graduating from university I have worked in a role that required me to build strong relationships with clients, this is also a key part of being a Quantity Surveyor.

How has your experience been so far at Caxton Builders?
Since joining Caxton Builders, I’ve seen a strong sense of teamwork across the business. Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and willing to help with my training, regardless of their role. I’m excited about building my career here, working with great people who I know will support me in contributing to the Group’s ongoing success”.
