Caxton Façades Operations Director, Scott Millington discusses current market conditions, which sectors are seeing increasing demand, and the recent growth of the business.

How are the current economic conditions affecting the business?

The country has experienced very challenging and changing times with inflation the highest it has been for many years, the cost of living increasing, and energy prices unstable. This has, inevitably, affected the construction industry and material price fluctuations. Despite these challenges, Caxton Façades is experiencing a boom in enquiries and has secured work for the next few years, which puts the company in a healthy position ready to face whatever happens in the industry. We are working with some of the industry’s leading principal contractors and our knowledge and expertise are no doubt helping us to secure repeat business.

In which sectors are you seeing an increasing demand?

Over the last few years, the residential multiroom and education markets have become prominent. The construction industry is ever-changing and challenging so we make sure we are adaptable as a company and have experience in all sectors. We have worked hard over the last few years with one of the leading main contractors to develop an off-site solution with the Stofix system for education projects which is now being rolled out across numerous sites across the country.

What façade systems do you install?

We can design and install all façades be it masonry, aluminium, timber, or any other product specified. The current trend is for brick slip installations. We work very closely with Stofix UK; their product is the only pre-pointed, mechanically fixed brick slip rainscreen cladding system that is fire-rated over 18 meters giving our clients the flexibility to choose almost any brick. Constructed off-site, their brick slip system has no height limit and the system is suitable for new construction and renovation projects. Stofix is BBA Certified and includes a 20-year manufacturer warranty. Caxton Façades is the only preferred specialist installer of Stofix in the UK; we helped to develop the product, and know the product inside out. This gives us a distinct advantage over other façade contractors.

Tell us about Caxton Façade projects for 2023 and beyond?

We have a very healthy order book for 2023 and for the next few years, some secured and some in negotiations. We have projects in London, Birmingham, Sheffield, and Nottingham. A large percentage of our business is from repeat clients, which is a testament to the quality of our staff and the work they do”.
